Douglas Weiner is Of Counsel to the firm, and joins us with over 36 years of wage and hour experience, both in prosecution and defense.
From 1978 through 2008 he worked for the United States Department of Labor, New York Regional Solicitor's Office. He won many awards as the lead prosecutor of the Department's most significant wage-hour cases in New York and New Jersey. From 2008 through 2013 he was a Senior Counsel for Epstein Becker Green, PC providing defense and compliance assistance to management in wage hour matters. From 2013 through January 2015 he was Senior Counsel for Joseph & Kirschenbaum LLP representing employees in class and collective actions.
Mr. Weiner's experience includes adjudicated claims and defenses involving:
- Tip pools, credits and notices, off-the-clock work, prevailing wage rates, misclassified exemptions and independent contractors
- Negotiated settlements of disputed wage and whistleblower disputes
He received his J.D. from Villanova Law School, his B.A. from Swarthmore College and is admitted to the federal courts of New York and New Jersey.
In 2004 the Solicitor of Labor presented Mr. Weiner with the U.S. DOL's National Award for Excellence in Trial Litigation. He is a nine time recipient of the Department's Exceptional Achievement Award for positive results in wage-hour litigation.
